Here goes the story -
My brother and Uncle who came for a vacation in Singapore wanted to buy a good smart phone and the new year (2013) time being the best for deals he somehow landed in the seemingly promising shop at burlington square - Vision 1 digital.
He locked his interest on Nokia N9 and took it for a good price and asked the sales guy to switch on and check the phone. The sales person said the phone is NOT charged and cannot switch it ON. My brother gets the phone back at home and puts the phone on charging - after 10 mins he is trying to switch it on and do the basic settings - But the screen is not responding/not taking any inputs.
Within 45 mins of buying I had to take the phone to the shop and informed the phone is not responding and I am looking for an exchange. The shop owner (I think he was the shop owner) starts getting rude to me and says it is not his problem but my problem and I should go to the Nokia care to get it fixed - A new phone and I have to take pains for getting it fixed. Then he gives a counter offer to take another phone in exchange of the N9 - but all other phone model prices were seemingly high (great strategy).
Again I insisted I am interested in the phone I have bought - but he starts screaming "You can call the cops if you want to!" - Not sure how that would help me or him. After a couple of similar statements (threats) I decided to come out of the shop and get it fixed from Nokia centre. Reported the incident at Nokia center and came to know there is no DOA for Nokia phones in any shop. The Nokia center service representative was surprised to know the shopkeeper was ready to exchange the phone for another one (any brand).
Another observation I had - While buying the phone my brother mentioned he is just a visitor and is going to travel the next day - this might have given them the edge of selling another phone (at higher prices) as he wouldn't have taken a faulty phone.
Nokia care had a turnaround time of 3-5 working days (standard for getting a product fixed) so my brother went back without the phone - In April i will be visiting him and giving him the repaired phone.
This was my first and last experience of the store - I have already given the feedback to my family and friends and wouldn't like anyone else to go through any similar kind of pain - that's the reason I am writing this feedback.
Please please if you want to save your time and energy do not get involved in this shop.
