Church St Joseph Dying Aid - Singapore, Singapore

In 1924 a group of devout and well respected parishioners of the Serangoon Catholic Church, namely, Tan Ee Ngo, Yeo Koh Meng Kwang, Chng Swee Tiam, Goh Lau Tee, Koh Ah Tiam, Lee Teck Hua, Ng Kok Seng, Tay Cher Kheng, Chia Khoon Seng, Tan Chong Hiang, Ng Pang Chong, Goh Lye Khiam, Tah Poh Chim, Lee Joo Seng, Chia Bak Kah, Tan Chin Boon and many others, gathered in the home of their seriously sick and dying brethren to pray, asking God to alleviate their suffering, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Extreme Unction and Holy Communion, so their sins can be forgiven at death and enjoy eternal life in heaven.

Parish Priest, Fr Edward Becheras.

By 1925, the parishioners were so impressed by this good work that many came forth to volunteer their services. This prompted Fr Becheras and the group to form an association. A membership drive was started and attracted some 400 enthusiastic parishioners to join the association.
